FAQ
Common questions.
What tools do you connect to?
Aether connects via OAuth to Slack, Google Workspace (Gmail, Drive, Calendar), and Microsoft 365 (Outlook and OneDrive available now; Teams and SharePoint shipping at launch). 2-way sync with task tools (Linear, Asana, Todoist, ClickUp). Call recording transcripts can be pasted manually from Fireflies or Otter — OAuth connectors for those are on the roadmap. No IT team, no API keys.
How long does setup take?
Most firms are fully connected in under 10 minutes. You link your messaging, email, and document tools with OAuth — Slack or Teams, Gmail or Outlook, Drive or OneDrive. No IT team, no API keys. During onboarding, we walk you through mapping your first client so you can run your first live query before the call ends.
Is my client data secure?
Yes. Every firm's data is fully isolated — there is no cross-firm data sharing. Every piece of data is tagged to a specific client at the moment it's ingested, so agents only ever query the client you're asking about. All connections use OAuth authentication. Aether does not store credentials.
How does Aether handle data from clients who are no longer active?
All historical data remains indexed and searchable. If you close out a client engagement, you can archive that client — their data is retained but excluded from active queries unless you explicitly query it. You can also permanently delete a client's data at any time.
Do my team members need to change how they work?
No. Aether runs in the background and ingests your existing tools automatically. Your team keeps using messaging, email, and document tools exactly as they do now. The only change is that they can now ask @aether in Slack (or Teams) or open the web app to query what the firm knows about any client.
What's the difference between Aether and a general-purpose AI tool like ChatGPT?
General-purpose AI tools don't know your clients. They can't answer "what did we promise Acme on the March call?" because they have no access to your Slack history, emails, or documents. Aether is purpose-built for consulting context — it ingests your actual client data, segments it by client, and gives you cited answers from your own communications. Every answer links back to the source it came from.
What happens when a team member leaves?
All context they had about clients — every Slack message, email, and document — stays in Aether, indexed and searchable. New team members can get fully briefed on any client in under 3 minutes using the Onboarding Agent. The institutional knowledge stays with the firm, not the individual.

How does pricing work?
Aether charges per client, not per seat — because we want your whole team to have access. Plans start at $149/month for up to 5 clients (Starter), $599/month for up to 20 clients (Core — our recommended tier), and $999/month for unlimited clients (Scale). Annual billing saves 20%. Every plan is BYOK: you connect your own Anthropic API key, so there are no bundled AI credits or overage bills — your effective cost is the subscription plus whatever you spend with Anthropic directly. Each tier unlocks different agents — Starter ships with the delivery agents for client recall and engagement work; Core adds the commercial spine (margin-leak detection, engagement P&L, win/loss synthesis, scope-creep detection, proposal/SOW drafting, reporting, client health, and stakeholder mapping); Scale adds unlimited clients/seats, API access, and priority support.
Why per-client pricing instead of per-seat?
If we charged per seat, firms would limit who has access to control costs — and that limits the value Aether delivers. Per-client pricing means everyone on the engagement has Aether in Slack. The more of your team that uses it, the more valuable it becomes.
Do I need my own Anthropic API key?
Yes — every plan is bring-your-own-key (BYOK). You connect your own Anthropic API key in seconds at Settings → LLM (/settings/llm), and we do it with you during white-glove onboarding so you're never stuck. We charge for the software, not your AI usage — so our incentive is to keep the agents token-efficient, never to run up your bill. That's the opposite of credit-bundling tools that profit when you burn more, and because you pay Anthropic directly, every model price cut lowers your bill immediately instead of us pocketing it.
What will my total cost be with BYOK?
Your effective cost is the subscription plus whatever you spend with Anthropic directly — there are no bundled credits and no overage bills. In practice the usage is small: most agent calls cost a few cents (a Daily Brief runs about $0.01, a Recall query about $0.02). You're never guessing, either — the in-product Usage page (Settings → Usage) shows exact cost per agent, per model, and per source with a daily chart and a literal "Platform $0.00 · BYOK $X" split, so you can see we make $0 on tokens. You can also set daily/weekly/monthly spend alerts, so there's no surprise second bill.
How many agents does Aether have?
Aether has 10 production agents — Recall, Debrief, Status, Onboarding, Decision, Daily Brief, Meeting Prep, Proposal, Reporting, and Client Health — plus a Help Agent that guides setup and learns your firm's terminology over time. Coming next: Win/Loss Synthesis (shipping at launch), Margin-Leak (shipping Q3), Stakeholder Power-Map (shipping Q4), and Engagement P&L (shipping Q4). Each agent is purpose-built for a specific consulting workflow moment, and every answer includes source citations. The Decision Agent goes a step further — it captures the rationale behind every material decision with citations, then revisits each decision over time and tells you whether the call held up.
